Talk:Schlagen (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
This weapon basically uses an explosive crystal to fire the bullets, this in itself already deals massive damage, more than a normal sniper, however when applying magic to it, it becomes a railgun which boosts the bullets, increasing both range and damage.
- I'll see what I can do. Firstly, we need a better name, because it's not a rifle, "anti-materiel" is anachronistic, the term was used for WWI (and onward) anti-tank rifles. "Railgun" refers to the sliding armature, so I guess that's okay, if still anachronistic. Marasmusine (talk) 09:07, 17 December 2016 (MST)
- Though that is what the weapon is called in the ln. The main character was transported from our world to another where he designed the weapon based on anti-materiel rifles. The character uses electrical magic to create electromagnetic fields in the weapon's barrel.
- Can you tell me which volume in which the weapon is first mentioned? Might help if I look at it. I've skimmed through the first couple and the term "railgun" is used plenty of times, not so much in conjunction with "rifle". Please understand my wanting to investigate this, having a "railgun rifle" is an oxymoron, it's either a railgun or a rifle :)
- What about this name, "Schlagen", could we just use that? Marasmusine (talk) 03:41, 18 December 2016 (MST)
- It could be called just Schlagen as that is what the main character calls it, the wiki describes it as "an antimaterial rifle with a 3m long barrel 20 times stronger than Donner", Donner is ten times as strong as a normal gun.
