Talk:Runner (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
- Two "common" saves.
- "grappling hook" is not a tool proficiency
- Extra Attack gives you one extra attack than expected (think of what happens if you multiclass with monk)
- Otherwise not too bad! Marasmusine (talk) 11:06, 29 June 2017 (MDT)
Thanks for the review! It's my first class attempt, I'm glad it came out so well. I'll change the wording of Extra Attack so it doesn't stack with Martial Arts. I'll swap the Constitution save for a Strength save.

- Looking ahead, I would say the archetypes need some work. Marasmusine (talk) 13:17, 29 June 2017 (MDT)
In what ways?
--AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 02:12, 30 June 2017 (MDT)
- Just real quick, two things that stood out were the things that involved an "ally" (e.g. when you issue a command, I think probably that ally should be able to hear you and understand your language; probably give this a range.); and I'm not keen on the temporary ability score bonuses - particularly if it's +1, because that's only useful if the target has an odd-scored ability, so now you're metagaming to see who has odd scores; and I was a bit worried about gravitic strikes if you also multiclass as a monk (martial art attacks with range and bypassing nonmagical weapon resistance). Good points! I've fixed those issues.

- Let's see what else. So they can brew potions of healing during a short rest, requiring no materials. If they do nothing but sleep (long rest) and rest for 12 hours a day (12 short rests), they can create 364 potions of healing per month. Marasmusine (talk) 11:04, 30 June 2017 (MDT)
- Bruiser is another feature that makes monks too powerful.
- Save expertise still mentions skill. Marasmusine (talk) 11:10, 30 June 2017 (MDT)
Done! Thanks for all the help! Is there anything else?
--AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 11:33, 30 June 2017 (MDT)
- Disarming is already something everyone can do with DM adjudication (it's an optional rule in the DMG). Marasmusine (talk) 07:17, 13 August 2017 (MDT)
- Well, I suppose, never mind. I did remember seeing that on my first review but saw that it's mechanically a bit different. It's just weird having the class feature have the same name as the optional rule.
- However, if I disarm the Huge-sized greatsword from a storm giant, I can make 6d6 damage attacks with finesse!
- I guess that's why it's normally under DM adjudication. Marasmusine (talk) 07:19, 13 August 2017 (MDT)
Superior Disarm only ignores disadvantage due to size. You would still be unable to use a weapon you couldn't use at all. --AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 09:15, 13 August 2017 (MDT)
- 5e doesn't have any specific rules about weapon size (other than the Heavy property for Small characters), I would prefer if Disarm specifically says you can use it against Small or Medium creatures. Marasmusine (talk) 10:29, 13 August 2017 (MDT)
I changed Disarm so that you can't use weapons used by creatures bigger than Large and added a penalty if you try and use it against Tiny or Large creatures. I would have made it impossible to use Large weapons, but that makes part of the feature useless for Medium-sized creatures.

Playtest Feedback[edit]
If anyone has any feedback from playtesting, I'd be grateful if you left it here :) --AngelsAndAarakocra (talk) 12:30, 29 June 2017 (MDT)
