What on earth does "While its apparent “breasts” made the Department of Defense doubt both its own combat effectiveness..." etc mean? Marasmusine (talk) 02:53, 28 April 2024 (MDT)

I added a needsbalance message about CRs and terminology, and it was removed prematurely. I had a look at the last entry, the Sentry Bot, and the CR should be closer to 7. It is not clear how the weapons work at all. The missile launcher -- It says "blast 15 feet" and on trying to find what this means, I found the keyword at Weapons (5e Fallout Setting) and it says it is for shotguns only. It seems to be that you make the +10 attack roll against every creature in the "blast radius". If it is an explosive missile, why not just use the normal method for explosions in the 5e rules? Otherwise it is not going to interact correctly with cover and other things. It's so whacky that I'm not sure if the range of 15/150 ft is a typo or not.

The "ram" is an "unarmed attack". Shouldn't that be a "melee weapon" attack? Why does it have a range, is it actually a ranged attack? What does "multi target" mean? What is going off with "charges forward 35 feet and anything caught in it will be damaged" -- can it move through the spaces of enemies? Are attack rolls made or is this automatic damage?

Reply: I am glad that you voiced your concerns about the balancing. Let me reassure you that I was the one who removed the needsbalance message because I had fixed the CR of the Sentry Bot to 7. I just fixed the missile launcher to have a long range of 60 feet rather than 150, as well as the ram attack to clarify that the attack roll is made against everyone caught in the Sentry Bot's path.

If there are reasons for these strange keywords and mechanics that are specific for this campaign, I really suggest a unified page explaining them and add wikilinks appropriately. Marasmusine (talk) 02:22, 29 April 2024 (MDT)
