Activation Time

I do believe the activation of magic items other than potions or oils is a standard action that provokes no attack of opportunity. I like the idea of a ring with Greater Invisibility on it but it must follow the standard rules of magic items as well. --173.33.2.57 11:21, 10 December 2009 (MST)

The pricing is for command word activated, and speaking is a free action. Generally the activation time is similar to that of casting time used to create the spell, but as you can see from the table in the DMG on page 285 and the surrounding text, this can be overridden with enough money. -Valentine the Rogue 12:22, 10 December 2009 (MST)

As quoted from the SRD, a ring’s ability is activated by a command word (a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity) or it works continually.
