Talk:Raw Magic (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Here are just some of the problems with this subclass
- This subclass has numerous grammatical errors and a few formatting issues
- Energy Manipulation. This feature is game breakingly powerful. It is a constant source of damage that always hits creatures and it scales.
- One With Magic. This should honestly be the 14th level feature and the reduction
- Aura Of Power. PC's should never get access to this kind of blindsight(see the 14th level feature for the rouge) and the bonus Charisma is absurdly strong and largely breaks bounded accuracy.
- Unrestricted Magic. There is nothing wrong with this feature, but it is just another good feature on top of what the subclass already provides.--Blobby383b (talk) 14:44, 16 April 2018 (MDT)
Balance Edits[edit]
I've made some edits to try and get this subclass a bit more balanced.
- The damage of energy manipulation no longer (directly) scales with level.
- Antimagic "sensibility" is now basically the antimagic susceptibility trait some constructs have, but it lets you rebound dispel magic since it's sort of unfair to have a purely negative ability.
- Aura of power has a time limit, deals stacking self damage, and a lower charisma buff. It still breaks bounded accuracy, but since it's a sort of arcane barbarian rage, and barbarians get a way better ability increase at level 20, I think it's ok???
- Aside from swapping its level with aura of power, I think one with magic is basically fine as-is. Same with unrestricted magic.
Some aspects still seem like they're OP or have the potential to be, idk. It would be nice to have a more direct correlation between strengths and weaknesses instead of a pile of mostly unrelated (and kind of minmaxy) buffs and rebuffs, but you'd have to rewrite the whole page.
