Talk:Psionist (5e Subclass)

Adopting psionics to the archetype is an awesome attempt, but I think it should be a bit downpowered. Note that Arcane Trickter archetype only grants one-third of spellcaster level, and it mostly restricts to enchantment and illusion spells. Maybe you can lower the psionic manifester level (I'm not sure if that's a proper wording, but still.) to one-third, and limit the discipline choices to several orders would be more balancing.

Plus, I don't see why rogues can't have Soul Knife feature as a basic feature, it fits the class. You also have to define what is the Soul Knife is in the first place. I know it's on the Mystic class from the Unearthed Arcana, but still, you have to define the feature if you're introducing to somewhere completely different. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 02:49, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Small Complaint[edit]

Why is the soul knife section written the way it is? What happens when the character only summons one mind blade? OR what happens when they summon both and then drop one? Really important stuff because a free hand is super important and it leaves an awful taste in my mouth to see a neat idea force a player to use a certain style. Maybe allow for 2 small blades at 1d6 each and then 1 big one at 1d8? You know like a rapier and such? Just food for thought is all.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 23:04, 30 April 2019 (MDT)

Not about to start an edit war with some rando IP address user.[edit]

Ok, simply put, the Soul Knife order from the v3 Mystic is deeply flawed. I made changes to allow for the rogue to have a nifty archetype that behaved similar to the Mystic presented in UA. I made several quality of life changes that have been addressed several times over to not only fix a flawed design, but also actually fit the class that the archetype is being bolted on to. The reduced base damage was a small price to pay to make the archetype function with the rest of the rogues kit and really shouldn't be an issue. As with any multi-class based archetype, it should not be a direct copy and paste. See Fighter's Eldritch Knight and Rogue's Arcane Trickster. But I will gladly hear your take on the matter here in the discussion page. don't forget the main point of Homebrew, creative freedom. Use it, seriously check your balance and use your creative freedom.--Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 13:10, 19 May 2019 (MDT)
