Talk:Prismatic Knight (5e Class)
After reading through this class here is what I thought:
- Prismatic Augmentation: You basically gain an additional ASI every time you get a normal one except that the points are on Constitution without choice. Nevertheless that is extremly strong
- Spellcasting: Besides the fact that this class can be very strong regarding Melee attacks it is also a class with full access to the Spellcasting feature?
- Prismatic Strike: 2d8 extra damage at level 2 on every hit without using anything? That is somewhat very strong as well
- Prismatic Shift: This actually seems to be fine. Comes close to the "Misty Step" spell
All in all I think this class is simply too strong early on and has too many possibilities to function as a melee tank as well as a ranged tank at once. You could fix this by making him a half spellcaster class and lift the extra ASIs for example. Only an idea though --Asriel (talk) 13:24, 24 August 2017 (MDT)
Hopefully Resolved Balance Issues and Front End Loading[edit]
We play tested this and it worked quite well. It's basically an empowered Eldritch Knight. This was a secret power source which was sought after in my campaign. The Augmentation Chamber and The Prismatic Stone are powerful artifacts. Giving players access to these take them to a whole new challenge rating. I have however responded to your suggestions to make it more accessible to more vanilla players.

moved to 11th level and depowered to bonus of 1 not 2

Changed to half caster and rounded out spell selection

You must expend spell slots to use this power much like a paladin. Significantly depowered with half caster change.

I have seen the changes and I am amazed by your fast reply. I see what you mean with Prismatic Strike, that was my bad. I don't see any other remaining things left to change now. It looks absolutely fine to me --Asriel (talk) 05:52, 29 August 2017 (MDT)
I try to stay on top of things. Thx for the feedback. Hope you get to try the Power of the Prism out. --2600:387:3:800:0:0:0:72 10:00, 29 August 2017 (MDT)--Arklorn (talk) 10:01, 29 August 2017 (MDT)
