Do you intend this to be balanced for normal 4e play, or is it going to be for some kind of non-standard set of rules? Marasmusine (talk) 12:24, 16 September 2013 (MDT)

-I intend for it to be balanced for normal 4e play and soon I will be play testing a class my self if anyone else wants to do so that would be very helpful.--Aitharious (talk) 13:41, 16 September 2013 (MDT)

The way that you have, for example, ability score and skill modifiers, is quite different to 4e standards for a balanced race. Without exception, published 4e races have +2 to two abilities (with later races having an option on the secondary score), no ability penalties, and +2 to two skills. It doesn't break the game, but the game does expect certain maximum/minimum values for the maths to balance. Marasmusine (talk) 12:05, 17 September 2013 (MDT)
I do like the other traits, they are interesting, reminds me of some of the Heroes of Shadow races. I would like to reword them so they use the correct terminology, if that's okay. Marasmusine (talk) 12:41, 17 September 2013 (MDT)

-Absolutely go right ahead! and with the plus three's it is a potential plus one for each modifier with a definite minus one for the dexterity modifier, so it does balance out there also there is the rolling method for attributes which can potentially even if highly unlikely create an incredibly weak or incredibly strong character. --Aitharious (talk) 15:56, 17 September 2013 (MDT)

-Also I am planning to add one more race and two very unconventional classes (along with a host of equipment and other things) To make a Source book called The New World and since you seem to be on top of it all and very good at what you (I checked out some of your stuff) I was wondering if you would like to assist me? (mostly similar to that which you have already mentioned and offered to do.) and I must preemptively apologize for all the grammar errors that I will undoubtedly make. --Aitharious (talk) 18:00, 17 September 2013 (MDT)

I'd be glad to assist you.
Okay, here comes the lecture, sorry about this:) Concerning the ability scores, with a base 18 in an ability score you get a score of 21 at level 1. When you hit level 4, this goes up to 22 - that is a +6 modifier: this breaks the expected maximum modifier at that level; this will happen again at level 8, 10, etc and for two ability scores. The -2 Dexterity doesn't balance this, since the PC is forced to make that a dump stat.
Two further issues: The PC can choose from 4 different ability bonus combinations compared to the 2 or 3 of other races. This makes them too broad. Finally, once you have a penalty to an ability score, that becomes a dump stat, and heavily discourages the PC from taking classes that use that score. 4e philosophy allows any class to be viable for any race.
I don't mind the rules been bent here and there if it's flavourful or a neat mechanic, but it doesn't work here. "+2 to Intelligence; +2 to Constitution or Wisdom" is balanced. Marasmusine (talk) 00:42, 18 September 2013 (MDT)
I'm doing the trait rewrites now, I've put comments in the code for the changes. Marasmusine (talk) 01:05, 18 September 2013 (MDT)

-I've made changes to the atribute modifiers, to make it more apropriate and still represent what I would like and and greatly aprove of the changes to the soul eater power. --Aitharious (talk) 08:55, 18 September 2013 (MDT)

-Since I was thinking of high con mostly for the hp do you think a racial bonus of say +2 HP per tier, or a flat bonus of +4 be apropriate? (this is would be to counter for their low speed) --Aitharious (talk) 09:03, 18 September 2013 (MDT)

+2 per tier sounds okay, that makes it worth about half the Toughness feat. Alternatively you could give a flat bonus to healing surge value, or +1 surge. Marasmusine (talk) 04:01, 19 September 2013 (MDT)
Oh, if Con is the mandatory bonus now, you might want to change Soul Eater to be Con vs. Will, or have Con in there somewhere. Marasmusine (talk) 04:52, 19 September 2013 (MDT)

-Ok I changed up a few things and left comments on your comments in the edits if that makes any sense at all --Aitharious (talk) 17:06, 19 September 2013 (MDT)

-Yeah That will do for the Physical Qualities (very very nice job)--Aitharious (talk) 07:54, 20 September 2013 (MDT)

Arcane isn't an origin, it's a power source. You'll find a description of the origins at the beginning of the Monster Manual or Monster Vault. The best fit is the natural origin, like most corporeal undead like skeletons, zombies and vampires.
Regarding "strenuous checks and tasks during your resting period", you've already stated they don't need to sleep, that's probably enough. It might be a bit disruptive to have the old blood going off and doing other things whilst the other PCs are resting. Rests are there to control the pace of the game. Marasmusine (talk) 10:53, 20 September 2013 (MDT)

-Fair enough, also I got most of the preliminary work done for the next race (I'm only planning on 2 but I might add more later)--Aitharious (talk) 14:50, 20 September 2013 (MDT)

-I guess actually should have been worded as you take damage equal to half the heals value instead of being healed and I should have used Divine rather than radiant (this is only really applicable to clerics which are the only real healers) but I do like the how you have it, so what do you think of healing powers from another player, or just straight healing powers always grant temporary HP, where as healing powers that steal life grant actual HP all the time?--Aitharious (talk) 15:16, 22 September 2013 (MDT)

Feats/ tiers options[edit]

-Marasmusine I was wondering how do you move pages to a new on, (like you did with both of my races) because the title of some of the feats is spelled improperly and I would like to fix that.

You should be able to see a "Move" tab at the top of the page, next to History. Marasmusine (talk) 00:26, 25 September 2013 (MDT)
