Talk:Obsidian (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Changes[edit]
The original additional damage mechanic depended not merely on the foe's armor class, but more specifically that portion of the bonus derived from the Armor and Natural Armor sub-bonuses. Although realistic, this would bog play down significantly. The additional damage is now predicated on Strength, and affects only creatures that would reasonably take extra slashing damage. --Roszlishan 11:42, 1 December 2007 (MST)
- WHy not just give obsidian a better crit chance, like improves crit range by 1 or something?--Name Violation 21:18, 26 October 2009 (MDT)
I've corrected the hit points. Perhaps this brittleness, and the fact that the item needs to be masterwork to gain the benefit, makes up for the low price. So I've removed the needsbalance template. Marasmusine (talk) 05:09, 28 August 2013 (MDT)
As per the original suggestion by Roszlishan I edited the effect to increase crit multiplier. To balance the bonus, on the roll of a 1, the weapon effectively sunders itself. Seems fair TheRabies (talk) 02:04, 12 January 2016 (MDT)
