Talk:Oath of the Leper (5e Subclass)
I think Solemnity should only restore 1d10+Paladin Level hit points, as that would be on par with Second Wind for fighters, which has the same recharge time.

- The argument I have against that is this; While the paladin has 1 channel divinity per rest, they have two features to choose from, while the fighter has no competition for Second Wind's usage. The way I see it is this; Comparing Intimidate to Second Wind from the fighter class, Intimidate is typically a lot more useful in most cases, as it can prevent damage provided your Charisma modifier is good enough.--24.103.152.138 14:42, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
That doesn't necessarily mean Solemnity has to be more powerful. The choice between the two effects doesn't mean one should be better than an effect of that level. Paladins just get more versatility than fighters in this case. Also, maybe Intimidate should be decreased in power a bit, as it's essentially a group Blur but without truesight deactivating it at higher levels. Maybe let the targets make a charisma save to resist the effects? I really like the idea of the class apart from the Channel Divinities (which are great ideas but kind of OP)

Sorry I took a bit to get to this, my computer's a bit weird and switches between making me use my account and being anonymous. How's it look, now?--Blackbando (talk) 13:23, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello, fellow wikian! I love Darkest Dungeon, in the same vein I love tabletop games. I am mostly amazed at how you nicely pulled all the essentials of the leper into paladin oath. However, I would like to make a few suggestion on some features:
- Channel Divinity: Intimidate. Instead of subtracting Charisma modifier to attack rolls, how about imposing disadvantage? It is a more common method in 5th edition.
- Aura of Withstanding. So once you choose the damage type, you cannot change it, is it? I thought enabling the paladin to choose a damage type per every long rest or so would give some more flexibility, like fiend!warlock's Fiendish Resilience feature.
- Blood Shroud. A nice capstone feature and all, but since it comes with a penalty, I think this could be a bit more improved. In my opinion, the current version is maybe a little bit weaker than expected for a penalty that follows.
Well, that's it! I love this archetype, leper was one of my favorite hero of choice in Darkest Dungeon, and I appreciate you for emulating it on D&D! "Spare the others, I am ready." --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 13:45, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hey, glad you like it! I've been doing homebrew for a little under a year now (I've still got a way to go), so I'm glad that my experience was enough to pull off some elements from the game! To respond to your points,
- Channel Divinity: Intimidate. To be honest, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Must have slipped my mind!
- Aura of Withstanding. Actually, I think you may have misread it (or I worded it incorrectly), as it is supposed to function exactly like Fiend!Warlock's Fiendish Resilience, except for being an aura.
- Bloody Shroud. Actually, this wasn't the original version on the place where my private homebrew is. My private version had your Charisma modifier added to the damage rolls of your melee weapon attacks, but I thought it would have been a bit too powerful. Do you think I should add that to this version, as well?
- Thank you for saying you loved it, by the way! I also have a conversion for the Abomination, too! [[1]] --Blackbando (talk) 13:55, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Always glad to be of service - thanks for having me! I re-read the Aura of Withstanding, and yeah, it was me misreading, sorry for that. As for the Blood Shroud feature, I think your version is a bit fitting for a capstone feature, considering that it comes with a heavy penalty. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 14:23, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Alright, added the fix for Bloody Shroud! Thanks for all the help in making this as great as can be! Personally, I'm hoping to convert every single Darkest Dungeon class into an archetype at some point (not sure about how I'll handle some, such as Vestal, that are already very similar to their closest D&D counterpart), maybe even making a campaign setting about it.--Blackbando (talk) 15:42, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
