Talk:Noxian (5e Race)
Regarding the clasp, should it be clarified that only you can use it? Also, it should say what happens if you lose the clasp: is it gone forever, or can you construct or buy a new one? Marasmusine (talk) 06:02, 15 March 2019 (MDT)
I feel the Aegis should be an item anyone can technically use if stolen. Maybe acting as an item you may attune with? Going off the media already existing, humans have been seen with them, so I'm assuming all races can use them. Supposedly you can get more in Nox, due to them being made there. However, I feel for balance purposes you should be able to craft one, but I'm not sure what the price of said recipe should be. Sniffledorp (talk) 08:39, 15 March 2019 (MDT)
The Aegis[edit]
Just incase you didn't see it. I'm not quite sure how this chat system works lmao.

Oh and also! Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
To reply to your message on my talk page, I'm fine with the recent edits. However, once again I'm against the Aegis trait. Races also shouldn't have optional traits, we have variants for this. As for an alternative to equipment the first party supplements this by allowing races to make equipment like the gnome tinkerer and the lizardfolk artisan. The stuff they can make isn't limited to just them of course, anyone with tinkers tools could try their hand at a gnomish invention. Not sure how that will work with the aegis as it basically allows the casting of the plane shift spell to a set plane which is pretty broken. If you want to give out an item like this to your players you are free to do so but it can't function on a race and be considered balanced at this point. —ConcealedLight (talk) 10:31, 26 March 2019 (MDT)
- Alright, I saw your message before you archived all of the conversations and such. Referring to your solution, Concealed, please tell me what I'd have to edit with in the lore to affect it? Like you know, I'm a bit stubborn when it comes to the lore- I like making things as close to their original counterparts as possible, so I hope the changes you have in mind are minimal. I know I might sound like a bit of a mule, but I hope we can come to a sort of compromise that will help both of us equally! Sniffledorp 1:20, 29 March 2019 (MDT)
- The idea I had to was to treat it like the first party does with their extraplanar elves namely the eldarin and the shadar-kai who both have the ability to use a short range teleport. Lore wise the shadar-kai jump between the Shadowfell and the Material Plane doing the tasks of the Raven Queen. While they can't plane shift it can be assumed the Raven Queen opens the portals for them. That being said, granting Noxians a short-range teleport and moving the ability to plane shift from the character to the race as a whole, as in some sort of organisation in Nox that handles Noxian movement between planes and Noxian's leaving and returning. That way the DM is the one in control of the interplanar travel pre-high level wizard and the race gets a cool thing that allows them to stay out of sight. That's the suggestion. —ConcealedLight (talk) 05:11, 29 March 2019 (MDT)
- Interesting concept! I do think this sort of thing could work, and I don't even have to edit the lore that much, at least I don't think so. Well, I'll ask- I believe that Noxians can leave their plane at anytime, however. Do you think that it would be fine for the High Mothers/Fathers to grant this ability to go back and forth? At the same time I enjoy the idea of a different organisation doing it as well. (I still like the idea of The Aegis being on them, and I thought they'd have to have it on them while this happened so they could go back. Maybe as a sort of tracking device of some kind, but it doesn't show who is actually holding it. So others could still potentially get through by stealing one. I'm not sure if that'd fall in line still, but just a thought!) I think this is a great idea. However, in my own mind I have trouble thinking of how to properly implement it, so I'd likely need some help from you. Thank you for your ideas! Sniffledorp 12:53, 30 March 2019 (MDT)
- I mean I'm not sure of the "power level" of Mothers or Fathers, if they are like Archfey then yes they would be able to handout blessings/boons that do such a thing if they are just positions like a village elder and such then limiting it to an organisation would be best. Check out the shadar-kai and the eldarins teleporty ability and then tweak it depending on what kind of flavor you want to go for, I'll chime in afterwards. —ConcealedLight (talk) 05:25, 3 April 2019 (MDT)
- Alrighty, I did some edits! I hope they suit both of our needs rather well. I think I did a rather good job relating to fitting it in lore-wise, but if you have any complaints please tell me! Thanks for all your help. --Sniffledorp (talk) 10:14, 7 April 2019 (MDT)
