Times per Day?[edit]

How often can this be used? --Green Dragon 14:58, 10 April 2008 (MDT)

There is no limit you just simply gain a range touch attack like the warlock only this deals 1d4 and he loses his familiar and a spell known and spell per day. If nything its almost like a reserve feat that can always be used. ShadowyFigure 15:25, 10 April 2008 (MDT)

this is awesome dude!!! i've always thought that familiars were useless and over-rated, but this is cool!!!-Tyraxor

Suggestion(s)[edit]

Make it take a standard action to use & usable only once per round. -- JSaysNo 08:21, 22 October 2008 (MDT)

Range and Energy Types[edit]

You only list 4 energy types, but I assume that at level 1 you get one of those energy types, and you list 4 other levels where you get additional energy types. You either need one more choice (Like Sonic or Negative), or remove one of those other levels. Ranged touch attacks do not have a fixed range. Scorching Ray has a range of 25 + 5 feet/2 levels, but Acid Arrow has a range of 400 + 40 feet/level. Does the range increase at all? --Foxwarrior 17:52, 31 October 2008 (MDT)

This is based off of the warlock from Complete Arcane, that ability has a fixed range. The ranged touch attacks you listed are only spells casted by a caster, if you use a wand, scroll, or even a staff and are not a caster, the ranges are set and can not be changed. -Sarrow 17:37, 7 January 2009 (MST)

Deletion and Balance[edit]

As far I am aware, all reserve feats have the caveat that a spell of a certain type must be prepared and unused in order for the feat to be useable. A sorcerer does not prepare his spells, and as such can not use a reserve feat. I think the spell-like ability presented here is not a great deal more powerful than a reserve feat, and limiting how many times a day it may be used entirely defeats the purpose of having it. --1337 w0n (talk) 17:28, 29 January 2014 (MST)
