Talk:Martial Expertise (4e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
Heavy armor is typically worse than light armor, providing approximately the same defense bonuses or slightly less, but worse mobility, skill check penalties, and scaling less appropriately than attribute based armor. It also typically requires far more feats, which can be harder to acquire. Still it is a necessary feature for some classes, some classes which will never be able to get it, such as the Charisma barbarians, who just inherently have crappier armor, or the constitution barbarian who must expend enormous amounts of feat to have the same AC as regular strikers like a rogue or ranger. AS a result I figure a single, non-attribute based armor feat would make a lot of sense, and provide defenses basically equal to a barbarian with dexterity as their second stat, but be slightly worse and allow for different playstyles.
