Lightsaber update suggestions[edit]

A lightsaber is a blade of plasma, isn't really magical, so perhaps it shouldn't have a damage type? Maybe have it just do straight 3d10 damage? Also, the description says it requires the Jedi feat to use but there is no such feat. Maybe lose that as a requirement until you create the feat then add it in later? As is, no one would be able to use it.

Response to template stub[edit]

Honestly, I feel like a lightsaber, as a futuristic weapon, could be the acceptation to the rule of every damage source needing to be typed because there really is no type that fits. Lightning would be the closest because they are both plasma, but a saber doesn't shock you. Another thing that should be considered is that it's VERY unlikely that there are gonna be a bunch of lightsaber toting PCs or NPCs, so having it be un-typed would pose little to no balance issues. I personally feel that this is a rare case where there should be a deviation from the norm.

Lightsabers in the star wars universe are only able to be blocked by the Force or by one special metal. That's it. So to capture the flavor of the concept without adding in how this weapon is meant to cleave through you, your armor, and your weapon like butter, since sundering isn't a thing anymore, and doing some over complicated ability, simply give it a damage that can't be blocked. Even though I'm not the Primary Contributor to this page, I'd be more than willing add the special metal (Whose name escapes me at the moment) that would then give resistance to lightsaber damage. The only other feasible thing to do would be to make a new damage type. "Energy Damage" or something to that effect since the lightsaber doesn't fit any other damage type.

And if it truly does bother whatever DM allows the lightsaber in there game, they can smack on whatever damage type they think it should have.
