Challenge Ratings[edit]
Are the challenge ratings for this ballanced? I am not sure, as I have little experience in making creatures. Just to clarify, the creatures statistics are formulated in the same way as a dragon's are. This version of the Monstrous Spider statistics format in the growth of a monstrous spider to medium size, and allow it to get stronger if desired. --Sam Kay 11:38, 2 March 2008 (MST)
- They generally look good, however, I don't like that juvenile and young have the same CR -- one is clearly stronger (assuming the bite damage is a typo). I know you like to have them like Dragons here, but why? They aren't nearly as customizable -- you'd be better off making a separate version for each size (much like the existing monstrous spiders). Or am I missing something? --Aarnott 21:24, 18 March 2008 (MDT)
- The bite damage was a typo. I have them like dragons to factor in aging from a spiderling to an adult and beyond, and I think it would be easier to have them like this than for making 12 different spiders for each size for medium, large, gargantuan and colossal. What CR would you suggest making the Juvinile and young spiders? --Sam Kay 07:58, 19 March 2008 (MDT)
- I would say to advance it another HD and CR, but you can't because it would become Large at that point... Leave it at CR 1 -- nothing you can really do. It should be CR 1.5, but it is definitely below 2, so call it a benchmark CR 1 I guess. I still think since there isn't much to customize that they should have their own pages. This could be a splash page to direct to the different spiders. If it just extra work, I'll help you at some point. Is there anything to customize for these spiders? --Aarnott 08:42, 19 March 2008 (MDT)
- No more than normal monstrous spiders; you'd probably wan't to make them Specific mounstrous spiders. I could add something to customise... --Sam Kay 10:34, 19 March 2008 (MDT)
