since Big, Green and Mean and Hard Working Big Guys don't actually do anything how about something like:

If the intervening creature is an ally and is small or smaller, the Kroxigor can attack past them with their club as though it were reach 10 ft.

and

When the Kroxigor can see a skink ally they have advantage on all Wisdom and Fear saves
