Talk:Katana, Variant (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Huh?[edit]
Katanas take a penalty to Attack and Damage against enemies with Medium or Heavy Armor (Mithral or similar effect) armor count as they original category to determine if the Katana take a penalty or not.).
i would like an explanation on what the lines above mean.
- I think it means that if you have a character in medium mythril armor, it would still count as medium armor for the purposes of penalties. please sign your posts.Summerscythe 12:03, 25 May 2009 (MDT)
- I don't see the button to sign posts.
- I believe the intent is to reflect the fact that, despite their portrayal in various media, historically katanas were extremely brittle as they were forged from the poor-quality iron ore found in Japan. For example, were a Japanese samurai and a Roman legionnaire to do battle, the samurai's blade would probably shatter on the Roman armor. 24.68.45.165 02:27, 13 July 2009 (MDT)
