Talk:Iron Ogre (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Hey Marasmusine, tell me if I am right:
- Hit points: 95 hp, (no damage immunities) = 95 hp (CR 2)
- AC: 16, (no magic resistance) =
- I get:
- Defensive Challenge Rating: 95 hp (DCR 2) with no adjustments. Expected AC for this is 13.
- Actual AC is 16. This is a difference of 3 from the expected AC. We adjust the DCR up by (3÷2) = 1. Final DCR is 3.
- Offensive Challenge Rating. Best average damage for one round is 36 (two axe attacks). The ogre does get a bonus attack, once, so we factor that in by taking the average over three rounds. (36 + 36 + 36 + 18) ÷ 3 = 42. This gives us an OCR of 6 and an expected attack bonus of +6.
- Your actual attack bonus is +8 and +1 from Pack Tactics, so we adjust the OCR up by (3÷1) = 1. Final OCR is 7.
- Final CR is (3+7)÷2 = 5
- I've noticed you've been working out average die rolls slightly incorrectly. For example, the average d12 roll is 6.5, not 6. So here the average greataxe damage is (6.5 × 2) + 5 = 18
- Hope that helps! Marasmusine (talk) 02:17, 17 April 2015 (MDT)
- Wait so the Iron Ogre should be (36 + 36 + 36) ÷ 3 = 36 . Right? Because the Iron Ogre does not have a bonus action. Unless it is the Leadership action is the bonus action. Azernath (talk) 13:22, 19 April 2015 (MDT)
- If it does the same damage every round for the first three rounds, you don't need to take the average, of course :) It's just 18x2 = 36 Marasmusine (talk) 13:28, 19 April 2015 (MDT)
- Yeah, but the battle cry give extra attack so you add 18 to the processes. Azernath (talk) 13:43, 19 April 2015 (MDT)
- Oh, sorry, yes, I got this conversation mixed up with one of your other creatures. Completely ignore my above comment :) Yes, it can use Battle Cry once which gives it an extra attack, so that is factored in to the average damage. Marasmusine (talk) 15:11, 19 April 2015 (MDT)
