I like the idea of this spell, that it deals damage if the target has a certain condition. But I'm not sure why the madness table is mentioned? Marasmusine (talk) 09:50, 23 December 2016 (MST)

I can't speak for the author, but I saw that in their spell Instil Madness, they have the target roll on short-term madness table. The reference could be 'cause its part of an "Instil X" set (Instil Pain/Instill Fear/Instill Madness for the Dread Master sorcerer archetype, where players are encouraged to take all the spells together. The mention's 'cause, since they're all in a set, enemies hit with Instil Fear/Instil Pain are reasonably likely to have also been hit with Instil Madness. Dunno if there would normally be a conflict, or if it's just a repetition of rules for clarity. If it's a repetition, maybe edit the line to "As with all other attacks, this does not end any of the effects on the Short-Term Madness Table," so there's no confusion. Though, assuming the player needs to be reminded of universal rules feels a bit condescending...thoughts? Oportet (talk) 14:45, 23 December 2016 (MST)

On the Short-Term Madness table for rolls between 1 and 20 cause paralysis which damage breaks. While i do want to keep normal attacks breaking the effect I wanted instil pain to be a special case as it goes with Instil Madness, and there would naturally be a conflict if one cancels out the other. The reason why it specifies here is because it is the only directly damaging effect in the archetype. Vycanon (talk 7:03, 25 December 22016 (GMT +8)
