Talk:Inspiring Tune (4e Power)

Is this balanced? Assuming a charisma of 18 and a full party of 5, the bard exchanges a personal damage output of 1d8 + 4 (average damage 8) for a damage output of 16 spread over her allies - which can then be spread over any number of enemies rather than just one. That's fairly powerful. Powers that effect all allies tend to be Encounter rather than at-will. Also, if the bard isn't making an attack roll, this isn't an attack. So this is more of an encounter-power-level utility power. But if it's a tune, we want the bard to be able to continue it from round to round (per your at-will intention), so now it has a sustain. But sustain powers are Daily. And what do you know, that's the format that the bard's songs and tunes take in the PHB2.

There is room for a damage-buffing song, since as far as I can tell the Bard doesn't get one in PHB2. There's already a bard attack that buffs damage for all allies (Cunning Ferocity, yes it's an Encounter spell, level 3). Marasmusine (talk) 00:29, 12 June 2013 (MDT)

Thank you for your input; I hadn't thought this one through. I think I've balanced it now by only giving one ally a damage bonus, and the rest of them an attack bonus. --Paul (talk) 10:34, 12 June 2013 (MDT)
