Talk:Halfling Gnome (3.5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Obviously Broken[edit]
Compare with any other LA 0 race. This should be at least LA+1 as written... --Aarnott 23:15, 23 March 2009 (MDT)
- And if I understand correctly... this thing gets a free double-size monkey grip? Tiny creatures wielding medium weapons... I think you shouldn't include any "Training" in a race, because now a just-born Halfling Gnome apparently had some sort of training... Pharen 01:58, 24 March 2009 (MDT)
- tiny and +@ to str comes out to about +10 str, and that is just the begining of what is wrong with this, i think a +1 is still too low, give it a +2 and i'd feel okay about it, but i still wouldn't let it be played in my games, +3 would be better, o, and it's WAAAY too fast for a tiny critter --Ganre 03:22, 24 March 2009 (MDT)
- At least it gets +2 intellect and not +2 intelligence :P. If the author doesn't respond within the next couple days, we can put the delete template on it to get the process started. --Aarnott 08:02, 24 March 2009 (MDT)
- Well, I've been editting it for two days, so gimme a bit of a break will you? I do these things a bit stragely; dump everything I'd like to have onto the page, then delete stuff to make it balanced. As for level adjustment, I'm creating this class for an epic campiagn, and it's supposed to be about LA+5, I just hadn't put that in yet. ~Edward 2:19, 24 March 2009 (MDT)
- Ok -- let me know when it is finished. I didn't mean to come across as hostile: we are just being a lot more vigilant about cleaning up unbalanced content in order to improve the overall wiki quality. --Aarnott 14:39, 24 March 2009 (MDT)
- Righty, I do beleive that's about it... and thanks for the explanation; I apologize if I came across... well... cross.
- Thanks for helping me out, but by the way, would you mind looking over the Mass-Induced Development feat if you get a chance? ~Edward 14:06, 24 March 2009 (MDT)
- So you are done for now? Okay here are some comments:
- I like that you made the size Small. Instead of including extra rules in the size text, you should make a new ability for it like the Half Giant's powerful build. Maybe 2 different abilities would be better to avoid confusion. ie. Nimble Frame: Halfling Gnomes are treated as Tiny creatures for the purpose of gaining a +2 size bonus to Armor Class, a +2 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +8 size bonus on Hide checks and Bonus Feat: Halfling Gnomes gain Mass-Induced Development as a bonus feat.
- Is Dwarven really necessary as an automatic language?
- This still needs a LA. +1 should be fair.
- You should separate the run speed penalty. Also, 60ft seems slow considering that this race can double move each round at 60ft. You should probably make the run speed 90ft. and put it as another ability such as: Slow Runner: Halfling Gnomes can only run 3x their movement speed instead of 4x. If they have the Run feat, they can run 4x their movement speed instead. If you are really set on it being 60ft., then just say: Not a Runner: Halfling Gnomes cannot take run actions.

- So you are done for now? Okay here are some comments:
- Thanks a bunch! Reconfigured it, set LA at +2 (just in case). ~Edward 14:06, 25 March 2009 (MDT)
Halfling... Gnome... Can't Decide...[edit]
Whoozawhatzitnow? A halfling gnome? No hyphen? Broken as hell. Why not make a quarterling template (a creature that's half-halfling) with LA -1 and be done with it? --Gedren56 14:36, 25 March 2009 (MDT)
- As much as I appreciate your suggestion to throw out four days work of hard labor -ok, mebbeh a bit of an overstatement- I have decided to keep this class, as I am planning to play it. If you have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism I would be happy to hear it. ~Ed 13:38 (MST) 25 March 2009
