Talk:Gun Mage (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
Thank you for bringing up the problems with the class. I changed the wording of Rapid Ventilation to say reloading instead, because in it's basic form that is what it is. As far as the "optional" wording of the gun features, that was on purpose because when you reach 6th level you have a choice between two forms, and i was unsure of how i could clarify this to make it more understandable and efficient. Any ideas?
EDIT: I moved where it says that you choose a gun specialization, putting it before the two types for each gun instead of internally. Hopefully this is enough to make sense.
ALSO: How can i change the name of the page? it should be Gun-mage instead of Gun Mage
RESPONSE: I think your edits clarify things greatly, and make for a much smoother read and consolidation of features. I have no idea how to change the name of a page though. Sorry.
So for the feature "On the move", it says that "You gain movement speed equal to 5 plus your dexterity modifier."
Does this mean that unless your dexterity modifier is 20 or more you only gain 1 extra tile on a grid of movement, or should it be 5x your dexterity modifier so that each dexterity modifier increase increases your movement by 5 ft?TheMinez (talk) 00:35, 24 October 2020 (MDT)

As for your question, the answer is that the ability appears to be poorly worded and could thus be taken to mean either. As the first interpretation would essentially only give a tile of of movement speed unless your modifier was maxed out, it cannot reasonably be assumed to be that interpretation. However, as the second interpretation would essentially double the base walking speed of almost all playable races, more than doubling in the case of dwarves, halflings, and other such creatures, that also cannot be the intended interpretation, as that is ridiculously imbalanced. I would suggest swapping the ability out entirely for a flat +10 feet of movement speed, as is seen in certain official subclasses - the Scout, for example. Hope that helps. --Nuke The Earth (talk) 00:28, 24 October 2020 (MDT)
I have three questions:
Question 1: The charges; are they additive, hence + instead of just a number?
Question 2: The Dual Pistols; There is an ability that allows them to unload an entire barrel. Is this a single attack action? So 6d6 with one attack or 1d6 with 6 attacks?
Question 3: Sniper Rifle 18th level ability allows you to use "all of your charges." Does this mean your total charges (50 charges) or charge capacity (3 for Rifle) for the weapon?

Mark of the Hunt[edit]
It says the target is marked for turns equal to dexterity modifier, but does that mean the players turn or turns in general?
