Talk:Golden Orb of Compulsion (3.5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Ideas for use:
- Trap set up in a wizard's lair (or other assorted noble/powerful figure lairs)
- Mastermind's way to force upon people the need to fulfill his evil wishes
- A form of forcing wrong doers into serving the community for their misdeeds (forced labor)
Calculation for the # of gold pieces needed to make a 5-inch radius orb:
(Inches)(2.54) = Centimeters
(5)(2.54) = 12.7 cm
Volume of Sphere = (4/3)(pi)(radius)3
(4/3)(pi)(12.7)3 = 8580.2394 cm3
Density of Gold = 19.3 g/cm3
Density = Mass / Volume
Mass = (Density)(Volume)
Mass = (19.3)(8580.2394) = 165598.6204 g
1 Gram = 0.00220462262 Pounds
Pounds = (Grams)(.00220462262)
(165598.6204)(.00220462262) = 365.0824 pounds
50 gold coins = 1 pound
(365.0824)(50) = 18,254.1232
Round down and you get 18,254 gold coins to produce a 5 inch radius pure gold orb.
