Balancing issues[edit]

Suffers from many of the same issues as the original: Flight, condition immunities, regeneration, resistance to just about everything, immune to a few things, vulnerable to some other things, gaining expertise in skills. Overall needs more work.

I changed a lot of damage resistances, made magical not do any less damage, less ability score improvements, removed the expertise of intimidation, as well as a bit more. Also the flying would be a problem if given at level one, however level 6 is a much more balanced option that I don't think is over powered, as you get the fly spell much earlier in some cases. I kept things that make sense as well as things that have to be there such as cant be poisoned because its a construct, etc. Any more suggestions? I'd be happy to fine tune this race, as its dear to my heart. - Apothose (talk)

As per the new template, centralizing it into a single race would also help as it is spread pretty thin atm. Removing all the debilitating traits like flight in daylight and vulnerability. If you want to add flight in without removing 90% of what makes the race cool make it a racial trait, so they can grab it on their ability score improvement and fly around like other gargoyles while having their other gargoyle trait. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 14:12, 21 February 2019 (MST)

Actually great idea, thanks! Apothose (talk) 09:49, 22 February 2019 (MST)

Still needs work. The issue of first level flight, stone form, several detriments/limits make this ineloquent by comparison to other races.

It wasn't first level flight, but its changed now anyways so hope we fixed the problem Apothose (talk) 09:49, 22 February 2019 (MST)

A number of capitalization/wording errors throughout. Consult the Help:When to Italicize and Capitalize for help. The traits need to be mechanically worded correctly as they are often vague or written like casual conversation.

I'll do my best Apothose (talk) 09:49, 22 February 2019 (MST)

It is still categorized as a flight issue as most races that have flight need to be balanced against the aaracokcra who only get 2 minor traits in addition to their flight speed. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 09:59, 22 February 2019 (MST)
So should I also make stone form a feat?Apothose (talk) 10:16, 22 February 2019 (MST)
The racial feats should go on the page itself rather than a separate page. Also, you should not put conversive text on the main page, that is for the talk page. I'll fix the page up now that I've got some time. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 03:54, 23 February 2019 (MST)
My only issue is that false appearance have very little practical use. Becoming indistinguishable from a stone statue isn't going to help much unless you happen to be next to a castle maybe, and while the resistance to nonmagical norm damages are nice, its definitely not an ability I'd pop in battle, it would render you useless. So it taking an action in that regard doesn't make too much sense. Also what happens if your speed increases, how is the movement described, etc. I'll keep brain storming, as well as I will thank you of course, you made major improvements, however that ability is going to be tricky to make useful and not broken. thanks again!Apothose (talk) 09:44, 23 February 2019 (MST)
It can be compared to the Tortles ability that lets that withdraw into their shell and it allows a player to surprise unaware creatures, it isn't ment to have an incombat use. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 13:10, 23 February 2019 (MST)
Fair, also does all the normal effects of petrification still apply? Apothose (talk) 15:32, 23 February 2019 (MST)
Yup. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 06:39, 24 February 2019 (MST)
Cool Apothose (talk) 12:35, 24 February 2019 (MST)
First off, I think the flavor of traits work really well. So kudos there.
Second, I am curious how the crunch works for the Flase Statue. Can this be done while in plain sight and still be indistinguishable?
Again, great job! ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:34, 29 March 2019 (MDT)
That would be much like the hide action where you'd need some cover or sorts, but majority wise its up to the DM. You'd still appear as a Statue but anything agro at you would likely still attack etc. Apothose (talk) 16:04, 29 March 2019 (MDT)

Thanks![edit]

I'm filled with glee seeing one of my most favorite races I've ever played balanced and fleshed out, so thanks to everyone who helped, especially you Concealed Light, you're awesome. Apothose (talk) 18:17, 28 March 2019 (MDT)

It's no problem. Happy to help. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 04:16, 29 March 2019 (MDT)
