Talk:Frigid Smite (5e Spell)
From D&D Wiki
The reducing actions/bonus actions on a SUCCESSFUL save is immensely strong. As is the 1 minute paralysis. I would look at removing the successful save negative, and adding in similar wording to Hold Person, where if the paralyzed creature is attacked it can make another saving throw. Forcing auto-crits onto a creature is -super- powerful in itself, adding in bonus damage and carrier effects even if they avoid the brunt is massive. Another option, to keep the theme of cold, is instead of having the critter get an extra save to free itself, you can give the paralysis a damage threshold. If the target takes X amount of damage, the ice coating it breaks away and it is no longer paralyzed. Lets you take advantage of the paralysis, and provides a finite cap to abusing it. Becomes a bit more of a limited control spell then, and you could even have the threshold increase at higher levels.--Kahz (talk) 01:57, 10 October 2016 (MDT)
