Fire Theme[edit]

If the magazine goes fire theme, this would be a great article to improve for the class.   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   15:26, 2 December 2008 (MST)

I agree, this could be a very good adopted article entry in the magazine's first issue. --Green Dragon 06:29, 3 December 2008 (MST)

Body of Fire[edit]

The 10th level ability to me needs to either be altered to moved up. Being able to become elemental, and being able to have such a good DR to me screams that this could even be the end-all ability of the class. Any other thoughts?   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   09:27, 3 December 2008 (MST)

Still researching for this class. Any help/ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated. Got some ideas but would like to hear feedback on the Body of Fire ability first and then I'll add them. So I can map out the class abilities.   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   19:03, 16 December 2008 (MST)

Assistance[edit]

I've been thinking and brainstorming ways to save this class. I really love the idea, but I can't come up with anything that I can classify as balanced. Any suggestions?   Hooper   talk    contribs    email   13:08, 20 December 2008 (MST)

Suggestions[edit]

I seem a couple months late, but I can't stand to look at all of those dead levels. Here are some suggestions for you.

Heat: Real simple, I know, but nearly all fire creatures (even the remorhaz, which isn't really a fire-type) have a flame aura/heat effect and this class does not. Any creature that hits the firelord with a metal weapon, natural attack or attempted grapple should recieve a given amount of fire damage (damage each round if the creature maintains the grapple).

Fire Jump: Not very original, but I'm just throwing out ideas. Move from open flame to open flame like a dimension door or tree stride spell.

Flame Blade: Like the spell, not the enchantment. This would be a sword (or any weapon, I suppose) made entirely of fire, dealing a progressive amount of damage as the firelord's level goes up and the flames increase in intensity.

Wrath of Vesuvius: I like this name personally, even though the reference has nothing to do with D&D. Functions like a weaker incendiary cloud spell, filling the air with hot ash (2d6 points of fire damage to all within radius, maybe) and blinding all inside. It could cause them to choke and cough, too, but I can't think of a condition that applies for that.

Wall of Fire: More unoriginality, but ideas are ideas.

Cleansing Conflagration: Fast healing when standing in open flames (fire immunity would be necessary for this)

Melt: The firelord's attacks deal additional damage to objects due to the intense heat he generates from his body. Any object (even those that are not flammable like stone or metal) must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC can be determined later) or melt down, becoming useless or even dangerous to others.

Transmute Rock to Lava: Similar to the spell from Complete Arcane, or like transmute rock to mud plus fire damage.

That's all I have off the top of my head. Hope it helps. -ThunderGod Cid 19:21, 15 February 2009 (MST)

I think there's a problem with one of your ideas. The fire jump ability would be too powerful because then he uses his produce flame at will to jump 120 and ft instantly. he could just make a lot of fires around his level 30 arch nemesis and apear here throw a fireball, apear there throw a fireball. So mayby too powerful.

Rating[edit]

Power - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because overall it seems pretty balanced, although you might rethink the level 20 ability.

Wording - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because it is a bit breif at times

Balance - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because the abilities seem in line with other classes. May need some revision

Wording - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because readable

Flavor - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because I like fire
