Talk:Fiendish Deities (3.5e Variant Rule)

Overhaul[edit]

I overhauled this page to turn into a rule as requested by the wikify. If I went overboard let me know so I can scale back. I felt like the change from Hero to Villain (and other related changes) was a flavorful choice so let me know if that's alright.

The standard categories work great for general understand, and then the variant rule easily modifies that in a way that feels natural. The next step would be to make sure all breadcrumbs, and associated templates match this theme, if it's deemed this is in good nature.

As a side note, the other individual pages could be removed, making it easier to find the related deities instead of category hopping. Coaldstone (talk) 21:27, 23 February 2020 (MST)

Looks good, although it doesn't need to be a variant. 3.5e lists demon princes and archdevils as deities in nearly every source book they appear in, most notably, the book of vile darkness and the fiend folios. Furthermore, about 3 entries on this page are standard deities, not archdevils or demon princes. And Lastly, if this does remain separate to the main deities page, this it's title should be Fiend Deities, not Demonic Deities, because demons and devils are different, but both are fiends.--Dark Dragon (talk) 09:00, 24 February 2020 (MST)
The Variant rule part is more of a naming convention than actually saying that's a variant rule. For this reason I put it under 'supplemental rule'. Could you let me know what the 3 'normal' entities are? Right now I have the DPLs grabbing pages that use the '3.5e Deity (SP)' template, as that's what is used in the preload. If it's grabbing incorrect pages, that's why, and the template on those pages should probably be changed from that. Originally I had it grabbing pages with the 'Sosfronii Pantheon' category, but then I realized that if someone added a page from a different pantheon, it wouldn't show up, so I changed it.
With the fiends change, do you want the tier to be overfiends, greater fiends, etc.? Coaldstone (talk) 12:48, 24 February 2020 (MST)
