Talk:Extremely Feminine (3.5e Trait)
From D&D Wiki
I don't understand. Doesn't this mean that a female character gets a permanent +8 bonus to disguise, for free? Wouldn't that be overpowered even as a Feat? Marasmusine (talk) 02:25, 13 September 2012 (MDT)
A female with this trait gets +8 to disguise when disguised as another female; but -10 (-8,-2) to disguise when as a male. Males gain +6 to disguise when disguised as a female (+8,-2); but -8 to disguises as a male. Those with the asexual trait or hermaphroditic trait gain +6 (+8,-2) to disguise when disguised as a female; but -10 (-8,-2) when disguised as a male.
- I still don't understand why there is a bonus, maybe you can help me. Let's say Feminine Girl Adventurer (FGA) and Normal Girl Adventurer (NGA) are both trying to disguise themselves - no-one specific, just to avoid detection. Why does FGA get the equivalent of nearly three ranks of Skill Focus compared to NGA? It's easier for FGA to pass herself off as a girl, but aren't they both already girls? Wouldn't the fact that FGA is "disturbingly feminine" make her stand out more? What if they both try to disguise themselves as a specific female individual - let's say the fairly androgynous Tilda Swindon - again why would FGA get such a huge bonus? You have a point. Honestly, if a bonus for a specific skill wouldn't make sense in a given situation, that bonus should be taken away. However, this trait (which may indeed be overpowered) is meant to denote people who are unusually feminine, more so than the those with the feminine trait. It was made to more or less create a noticeable effect that reflects the fact that certain people are unusually oriented to one gender or the other, so much so that people mistake this person for a member of that gender. If you can fix this, please do. Just note that you would have to fix the related three traits as well.
One more thing, the reason why is simply a mixture of practice, natural skill, and looks. This is a person who has literally spent their entire life looking and acting like a really girly girl. In the case of the androgynous Tilda Swindon, the bonus would probably be negated as such a person would look as much like a male as it would a female, thus nullifiying the benefits that looking and acting extremely feminine would garner.
- Okay, so, in my opinion, a character who is feminine (extreme or otherwise) would have these effects: For a male character, it merely negates the -2 penalty for disguising himself as a female of the same race. For a female character, there's an -2 penalty for trying to disguise herself as a male in addition to the normal gender penalty. In addition, there's an extra -2 penalty for any extremely feminine trying to disguise oneself as a specific individual. Marasmusine (talk) 06:12, 17 September 2012 (MDT)
- The extremely feminine trait was meant to be an double strength version of the feminine trait, but I can see what you mean. Also these should be circumstance bonuses and penalties, shouldn't they?
- Probably. I would also throw in a small bonus to diplomacy and charisma checks with members of their own race for the extreme versions. Marasmusine (talk) 09:27, 17 September 2012 (MDT)
- Say a +1 on all Charisma based checks (skill or otherwise)?
- Probably. I would also throw in a small bonus to diplomacy and charisma checks with members of their own race for the extreme versions. Marasmusine (talk) 09:27, 17 September 2012 (MDT)

Honestly, I find this trait a little scary. --Redrum 18:02, 14 December 2016 (MST)
