Probably a mistranslation. With "blunt damage" i mean the damage from weapons like maces, gauntlets, stones, and similar (is not piercing nor cut based). With extra fat, against this kind of damage that's based on hurting your internal organs with sheer force, a thicker layer of fat can absorb the energy of the impact and thus reducing the damage to your body. It's like punching a sponge.
