Talk:Element Bender (5e Class)

I'm thinking instead of having martial arts and bending dice, when they can take the bend action they can do the same number of things as fighters can make attacks and the effects can be an elemental strike or to knock them back or prone or to restrain/grapple. this would make it a lot simpler than it is now and it means we are not just copying monks martial arts.

Also, we can give them additional options for features at higher levels which is convenient.

Though we can still say that you do not have disadvantage in melee because of your martial skills and a powerful part of this feature is being able to choose if the attack is an attack roll or a str, dex or con save. and the bending mass/volume should be kept for roleplay

Also, I think earth fits being magical bludgeoning damage better than being force and vis versa for air and a feature for element of power would be adding your proficiency bonus to element damage.

I have more thoughts but they are mostly based off those ideas. What do people think of those ideas. Babosa (talk) 18:19, 17 November 2018 (MST)

Go for it. The class has been... contributed to as IP's do when I pretend I don't see their edits so a fresh set of ideas would be appreciated. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 18:29, 17 November 2018 (MST)
Haha. Will do Babosa (talk) 22:31, 17 November 2018 (MST)
So I've ended up making a significant number of changes, there are still some problems but I've managed to fill every level. What do you think of all of it? Babosa (talk) 04:17, 18 November 2018 (MST)
Definitely still needs work but I feel it's going in the right direction. Ideally, the features of the base class should affect benders in general rather than grant different benefits based on subraces and as far as the capstone feature I envision benders at that level to be fluid, effective and capable of advanced forms of bending. The advanced forms of bending are already done by the subclasses, so the base classes capstone feature should ideally allow a bender to be more fluid and effective. Reducing or removing a restriction is one method of doing so. —ConcealedLightChatmod.png (talk) 07:19, 19 November 2018 (MST)

Im wondering why the revisions I am making are being reverted?
Because they are considered by the wider wiki community to be unbalanced, or otherwise nonproductive to the status of the page. It's not that we don't like flavor text, it's that in addition to the flavor text you are adding and modifying features in a manner that outstrips the capability of certain core WoTC classes. In as simple terms as possible, the best possible classes can be directly compared to whatever their closest core material equivalent is, with neither being strictly better than the other. If I made a class that could make ten attacks per round, for example, the Fighter would pale in comparison, and essentially become useless. We at D&D Wiki try to avoid that as much as possible. I would suggest you look through the 5e Class Design Guide and all other relevant pages before making any further edits.
