Talk:Eldritch Master (5e Feat)
From D&D Wiki
If an effect would allow you to apply extra damage (such as Agonizing Blast) It adds once per beam for the Fire, Sonic, or cold, but only once for the Acid or Lightning blast. -- Xoia Nightwalker You can add your signature with four tildes(~).
Actually, they would get the bonus once against each target of the cone/line. You couldn't apply it to the same target multiple times, but you wouldn't be using those forms if wanted to use all the days on the same target. That said, maybe larger areas would be more appropriate than more dice? as is, your trading damage and range for more targets at low levels, but at high levels you're trading more targets and range for more damage (4 beams at 1d12+5 vs maybe 3 targets in the cone at 4d8+5). Maybe a bit of both? User: Anony9587
I dunno, feats in 5th edition are supposed to be universally available. For now, this reads like warlock-exclusive, as far as Player's Handbook is concerned. Is there a good reason this is a feat instead of an Eldritch Invocation option? --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 18:46, 17 October 2018 (MDT)
Mostly due to Feats being less available, and this being maybe stronger than an invocation, as well as being available to anyone who can learn cantrips from any class, such as a College of Lore Bard Xoia Nightwalker (talk) 00:04, 19 October 2018 (MDT)
Why should the most powerful damage cantrip in the game (at least for warlocks) also be the only one that does half damage on a failed save? It's not just a question of power, cantrips are supposed to be quicker to adjudicate (half damage means more math than a hit, instead of no math at all). Also, spells do half damage so you don't feel like your daily resource was a complete bust, there's no impetus for it with at-will cantrips. User:Anony9587
