Talk:Eldrazi (5e Race)

Made some changes:

  • There isn't an "abomination type", so I changed it to monstrosity
  • Changed the 1d4 damage reduction to a gain of 1d4 temporary hit points instead.
  • Removed the text "mortals of Medium size that are not Eldrazi, such as Humans or Half-Elves." - Eldrazi aren't humanoids anyway; this should work against Small humanoids; and Large or larger humanoids would have some other type instead (such as Giant)
  • Land Drain: specified that it should work only if you're standing on natural ground, and it takes an action, and you are regaining hit points, not gaining them. Put a radius on the "scarred land".
  • Enhanced Grapple: removed "once per turn", since you only get one bonus action a turn anyway.
  • Bone Skin: Rewrote so that it doesn't stack AC from armor.
  • Multiple eyes: permanent advantage on two skills is too much, especially since both skills include things other than sight, so I just rewrote this completely.
  • Floating polyhedron: I quite like the idea of this trait. I've made it use a reaction, specified when the attack happens, and increased the damage.
  • Tentacle Wrap: Grabbing and pulling is already covered in the grappling rules, so we just need to say that the grapple has a reach of 20 feet.
  • Hover: rewrote this a bit, increased the "grappling speed" to 25 feet so they can keep up with the party. Marasmusine (talk) 05:19, 5 October 2015 (MDT)

Why does the Titan Intimidation bonus only affect creatures of Large size? Did you mean to say Large size or smaller? SirSprinkles (talk) 04:23, 24 March 2016 (MDT)

Good Job/Notes[edit]

Last time I checked this out, it was badly written and horrible. Now it's really good. I'm glad that there are people out there who like D&D as well as Magic the Gathering. This is an interesting, but well made design.

Just to help, there are a few area you cluld clean up a bit. For example, the awkward phrasing about the use of counterspell. A less awkward way of saying it would be: "You may cast counterspell three times a day as a 6th level spell," or, "You may now cast counterspell three times a day, it is now also casted as a 6th level spell." This is entirely up to you if you want this or not, it works how it is. This was just my opinion. Agrith (talk) 21:02, 22 August 2016 (MDT)

Huh, it's gotten worse since my fixes in 2015.

  • Regeneration is back to 1d4 hit points, so thats back to screwing with the hit die economy. The DMG makes it clear that hit point recovery should not be at-will.
  • Abomination is just silly. I can't wear non-magical weapons or armor. Since I don't start with any at 1st level, and there's no guarantee of receiving any, this forces me to be a monk or wizard.
  • Soul Drain makes no sense at all. It doesn't say what enemy can be targeted (e.g. no range), and "The enemy has fear if he fails a Wisdom ST 10 + wisdom. " is meaningless.
  • And so on. Therefore I am reverting this page back to my revision. Marasmusine (talk) 04:12, 28 August 2017 (MDT)

About the Devoid trait[edit]

Not so sure about getting temp hit points from physical damage. Even if it’s only non magical damage , whilst in combat there’s a lot of chances to get hit multiple times per round, meaning each time you get hit you have to subtract your temp hit points, roll to gain more, subtract again when you get hit again, lose the temp hit points completely when a party member uses a spell or feature to grant you more temp hitpoints, get hit and subtract the damage from your temp hitpoints, completely lose any left over hitpoints and then reroll again from Devoid to get more temp hit points, etc etc etc.
