Talk:Duergar (4e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Thunderspire Labyrinth[edit]
I was curious if this is derived from the WotC write-up of Duergar from Thunderspire Labyrinth or is it entirely homebrew? -- Sepsis 18:21, 10 February 2009 (MST)
- I was not aware of the duergar being in any 4e published work - this was an attempt to convert them straight from 3.5e. Now that I know about them, however, I think I'll rework expansion slightly to function like the duergar shock trooper in Thunderspire Labyrinth, for the sake of consistency. Derro[edit]
Just curious...do you plan on doing a 4e conversion of the Derro as well? I've always liked those crazy Dwarves. -- Sepsis 06:15, 11 February 2009 (MST)
- I'll give it a shot. Dracomortis 14:01, 11 February 2009
Title Change?[edit]
Seeing that there is now a Duergar Player Race in the back of the Monster Manual 2, should this be moved to Duergar (Variant)? I'm not quite sure of all the rules yet, but it kind of looks like it should be moved. --Absconder 19:29, 7 August 2009 (MDT)
- I'm not sure. I believe the popular community opinion is that the racial stats in the back of the Monster Manuals are basically temporary until Wizards decides to include that race in a Player's Handbook. Nonetheless, the duergar have been officially released and are infernal creatures more akin to the 3.5 durzagon (while the race here is based on the 3.5 duergar), so perhaps the tag would be appropriate anyway. I'll sit on it a few days while I consider whether or not I want to retool this race to be consistent with the duergar in Monster Manual 2 or if I want to leave them as-is. -- Dracomortis 12:54, 12 August 2009 (MDT)
- I've moved the page to "Duergar, Variant (4e Race)" as suggested, as I have decided to keep these stats based on the 3.5 duergar, rather than the 4e one. -- Dracomortis 20:59, 19 August 2009 (MDT)
General Comment[edit]
The Duergar should have common as a language just for ease of use. Encounter seems powerful, especially if paired with higher level dailies but all in all well enough balanced due to lack of traits. --Aitharious (talk) 08:07, 18 July 2016 (MDT)
