Talk:Drill Beam (5e Spell)

This spell has some critical information missing: 1. It lacks a list of the casting components. 2. It doesn't define what type of damage is dealt. 3. It doesn't define what kind of bonuses from armor and shields are ignored? No armor/shield bonuses apply to this spell, especially since the at higher levels 7th lvl slot gain allows it to ignore magical bonuses, no nonmagical armor as standard would ever have any effect on this spell. 4. It doesn't define the size of the line of the spell. All line spells need a line width stated (in 5-foot increments) as part of the spells area in the body of text of the spell.

A spell that deals flat unavoidable damage, without having a saving throw to avoid/reduce damage, or an attack roll, doesn't fit with the design idea of area spells as a standard (though there are exceptions, they are very few and far between, and this spell doesn't seem like it should deny a saving throw to avoid the blast).--Kahz (talk) 03:52, 9 October 2016 (MDT)
