OP If you take this, choose fire and make sure your wizard has fire bolt as a cantrip, or any other fire spell. Free healing. Also, not all dragons are chromatic. The extra damage is also way strong.
Proposed change:
When you select this feat, choose a dragon from the Dragonborn's Draconic Ancestry table. You gain restiance to that dragon's damage type and advantage on saving throws against breath weapons and the frightful presence of those dragons. You can also imbue your attacks with draconic energy, as a bonus your melee attacks deal an extra 1d8 of the chosen damage type until the end of your next turn. You can use this ability once per long rest.
