Talk:Dancer, Variant (5e Class)

  • Is there any point to "Quality Over Quantity"? What happens if the dancer picks up a non-light non-finesse weapon and tries to hit something with it?
  • Co-Star. Where does the illusion appear? What does "will take one attack" mean? What does "moves in tandem with you" mean in game terms? Shouldn't this follow the normal rules for illusions?
  • What is a "wandering inhabitant of the Ethereal plane"? Do they manifest in the Border Ethereal or the Material Plane? What is a "semi-solid state"? I take it the thunder damage is applied to creatures within the sphere? "End of combat" isn't a good duration, you would usually say 1 minute.
    • Automatic damage over an AoE for every turn in a combat is, um, pretty powerful.
  • Set the stage. This spell takes 10 minutes to cast. How do you do it once "per encounter"; anyway this is 4e terminology, use a standard 5e duration (or, recharge after a rest, with it being a 4th-level spell and all that).
  • What are your "audience members"? I think this is related to the ethereal plane dudes? Automatically succeed on what rolls?
  • Grand Finale. What is the DC of the saving throw? Are they stunned indefinitely? Exhaustion comes in levels, not points.
  • Dazzling display. Is this with any attack (including spell attacks?)
    • "Charmed" -> "Charmed by you".
    • "30 seconds" is not a useful duration, try 1 minute.
    • 5e doesn't use durations like "2 rounds". Either until the end of your next turn, or have them repeat the saving throw to end the condition. Oh what's that, they didn't get a saving throw?
    • I keep seeing people casually use the stunned condition. Stun is very powerful. Please give the target a saving throw.
  • Feint has "per encounter". Is this advantage on a single attack roll?
  • More round-counting with aria. You could do something like, at the start of your turn roll 1d6. On a 1 or 2 the aria ends. Again with the automatic damage. Use saving throws, and state when it is checked (when a creature starts their turn in the whirlwind, for example).
  • It looks like one one archetype has spells, which means the other archetype has some dead levels. Marasmusine (talk) 08:46, 29 June 2017 (MDT)
Quality over Quantity still isn't addressed.
Dancer's Grace is lackluster compared to 3rd level spells and Extra attack, I'd swap it with uncanny dodge.
Mental Domination, how long after the spell ends does this last?
I'm confused if the class has spellcasting or the subclass? why does the subclass have it listed again? I think the info in the subclass was misplaced, and a feature is needed for the subclass. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 10:38, 8 May 2018 (MDT)
