Properties[edit]
I don't understand how removing the properties template call fixes the issue, or what the issue is. Properties is in the preload, and artifacts, as presented in the DMG, are description, random properties, and then other properties. Coaldstone (talk) 18:48, 20 February 2020 (MST)
- It may be my misunderstanding, but I believed that the random properties section is supposed to be at the bottom and the |Properties section seems to change that, so I will look that one up.--Blobby383b (talk) 18:59, 20 February 2020 (MST)
- I just looked it up and you are correct, the correct format is description, random properties, other properties, then info on destroying the item. Although I like the look of the random properties at the bottom, after figuring out the correct format, I am fine making the formatting follow the DMG. Also, thanks for taking the time to explain why the formatting was wrong, as if I didn't go check the DMG I would not have assumed I was incorrect.--Blobby383b (talk) 19:12, 20 February 2020 (MST)
- I've looked more at the artifacts, and it's weird. I think the order is description, damage, random properties, and other properties. The axe of dwarvish Lords (pg 221) has a seperate Magic Weapon property, but then the Sword of Kas (pg 226) doesn't. However, the axe is considered a weapon, and the sword is a wondrous item. This leads to some confusion. Both items place damage above random properties though. Either way it seems that the attack bonus should be included at the end of the description, then random properties, then other properties. However, whether to give it it's own Magic Weapon property or not, I'm not sure. It would seem to lean in favor of the the former as this is a weapon. The fact that the difference in formatting may be an oversight by WOTC , or intentional is somewhat vexing. Another wrench is that the sword is a sentient item, whereas the axe is not, so it's not a direct one to one comparison. Coaldstone (talk) 19:30, 20 February 2020 (MST)
- Your right, although the order of everything is pretty clear, there are some other oddities. I think that weapons that are artifacts should have a Magic Weapon property based on the axe of dwarvish lords, but the exact reason for why the axe of dwarvish lords has the property isn't clear and there is only 1 example of an item having said property so I am unsure. And the Sword of Kas not being categorized as a weapon and not having the Magic Weapon property is a bit confusing because the item is clearly a weapon. Just based on how a sentient item is formatted differently from a regular item though, I do not believe that the Sword of Kas being a sentient item would cause it not to have the property.--Blobby383b (talk) 14:11, 21 February 2020 (MST)
