Talk:D'ivers (5e Class)

From D&D Wiki

So I just finished creating this class. It is loosely based upon the work of author Steven Erikson. Let me know what you all think.

Comments on the Class[edit]

Overall pretty interesting concept. Some issues you may want to address:

  • You don't specify if the animals from Veering roll initiative individually or act on the same turn.
  • Since the class is an offshoot/variant of the Druid, change the spellcasting stat to Wisdom. It also makes the D'iver less MAD (Multiple Ability score Dependent).
  • Instead of being able to periodically change what your Veering form is, maybe change it so that every few levels you gain an additional beast shape you can take while also being able to change out old forms. For example, every four levels you gain a new Veering form/can swap out old shapes, giving you a total of 4-5 beasts you can take.
  • Consider increasing how long a D'iver can be in beast shape before Animal Madness procs. A Druid can remain in beast shape for an amount of time equal to their level. Maybe boost the D'iver's limit by an hour or two. Or maybe have it be equal to 1/4 of their level rounded down (Min 1). So from levels 1 - 7 it's 1 hour, Level 8 - 11 it's 2 hours, Level 12 - 15 it's 3 hours, Level 16 - 19 it's 4 hours, and at Level 20 it's 5 hours.
  • The capstone is severely under-powered. A 1d20 bonus to health is pretty much worthless. At the very least consider changing this to a static health bonus of 20 or more. Maybe consider changing it to some sort of bonus to the Veering, like adding Necrotic damage to any attacks in that form.

Thanks for the feedback. I adjusted the class so that it states that all veered creatures use the same initiative, I also altered the class to not have the MAD issue by removing the wisdom and making it a charisma and constitution based class. Veering I left the same because I wanted the power to be more combat focused and less utilitarian then what the druids can do. I increased the tine on the animal madness proc, and adjusted the capstone so that it is 15 multiplied by your constitution modifier at level 20.

    • I'd like to use this class, but I cannot find a cantrip/spell list anywhere, was that ever written?
    • It is now written down. it is druid.

Adoption[edit]

I have notice that this class is abandoned. It has good concepts and I desire to breath some life into this class again. -Levelnom (2/10/21)
