Talk:Crusader, Paladin (4e Class Variant)

Basically an essentials class, with a few twists. A hybrid Defender and Striker, with some extra leader-like abilities.

Although it looks like a lot, they can only choose 2 seals, 2 judgments, and gain access to the blessing and hands power. They can only use 1 blessing and hands until level 21 per encounter, and many are dailies or encounters. At later levels, they get access to more seals and judgments. Holy glyphs are just a way to expend augmentations to modify your melee basic attacks. As they lack dailies or special encounters, I feel this makes up for them, but they get lots of smaller, slightly weaker powers.

They will have utility powers however, there are more to come!

Also, they will have a paragon path.

The average damage is roughly on par to a barbarian or slayer, and can be enhanced with items, feats or powers that boost charging damage, or less damage can be done with certain defensive options chosen. This is slightly less than other strikers, which is compensated for by their higher than average defenses. You have a +1 bonus to attack rolls at level 1, and an additional +1 at level 11 with the paragon path, and then +1 with the aura. The main emphasis is on +hit rather than raw damage. The highest damage possible, with vanilla capabilities, is:

1[W] (8) + Strength (6) + Wisdom (4) + Seal bonus (3) + Enhancement bonus (2) + Weapon focus (2) + Melee Bracers (2) = 27
2[W] (16) + Strength (9) + Wisdom (7) + Seal bonus (4) + Enhancement bonus (5) + Weapon focus (3) + Melee Bracers (2) = 46
