Talk:College of Time (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Time is not measured in seconds in standard 5e D&D, but rather rounds, minutes, hours, ect. Additionally, using bardic inspiration to cast a 3rd level spell can be unbalancing. Rather than granting a clutch bonus you'd effectively be granting a bard up to 5 additional 3rd level spell slots at 6th level which, to me at least, seems extremely powerful. I like the original concept. If no one else minds, I could adopt it and fiddle with it so it's playable. --Max7238 (talk) 17:21, 21 March 2019 (MDT)
- Go for it. Abandoned pages are pretty much free to adopt. —ConcealedLight (talk) 03:56, 22 March 2019 (MDT)

- Nice work. I don't see any immediate issues myself other than some minor wording issues. To keep building on the page maybe add in a paragraph or even two about the college of time. What does their music sound like? How do they view it and how do other colleges/ people view them normally? Astral Chords reminds me of Vanya from the Umbrella Academy in the season finale. —ConcealedLight (talk) 10:38, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
Wow you really did a good job with it, it looks a lot better than what I had originally made and looks far more balanced, thank you! —Moth (talk) 20:07, 26 March 2019 (EST)
- I had no idea you were even still here, bud. Glad you like it, but I'm sure someone will makes some balance changes. I'm pretty new. You're welcome, though. --Max7238 (talk) 21:38, 26 March 2019 (MDT)
- My only gripe is Tempo stacking. Bounded Accuracy limits plus to hit and giving a potential +8 on a die is a lot, or even allowing the feature to stack. +1 to attack and damage rolls is equivalent to a magic item which the community and company agree is good for 5th level adventurers. I really like the rest of this, especially the added spells. ~ BigShotFancyMan 07:38, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
- The idea is that it would be difficult TO stack. If you DON'T move and you start it, you could be surrounded. No Bard is a tank. If you DO move, you would have to circle your opponent (like dancing around them), and might end up taking AOOs from other nearby enemies in an effort to keep up the Tempo. It's situational, locks you in to a single course of action, and intelligent enemies (i.e. the GM you're using it against) will learn to exploit it by +3, especially later into a game when it's less useful. It starts off strong, falls off, and then Skip shows up. Just my logic, anyway. Again, if you have a better bonus that follows the spirit of the idea, I'm not exactly the original creator, so have at it. --Max7238 (talk) 09:23, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
- but it’s not hard to stack. Repeat an action twice and you’ve got +2 bonus on your attack roll at level 3. Level four take a feat or multiclass to take Eldritch blast and now you got 120 feet wiggle room. I think it’s great feature if capped to say...half your proficiency bonus rounded down. ~ BigShotFancyMan 15:29, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
- I agree that the feature has the potential to be way too powerful and easily abused. Having yourself stand at the back while your tanks are taking the hits, all the while your attacks increase in accuracy over time is not balanced. As BSFM noted such bonuses are the stuff of magic items. Want to go more broken? Have a friendly caster cast haste on you, allowing you to take two attack actions and move double your movement speed, allowing you to evade all enemies with ease as you rack up attack bonus after attack bonus. -- ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇᴀʟᴇᴅᴡɪғᴇ (Contributions) (Squa) 15:41, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
- That is much better already! I can't wait to see how you continue developing this sublcass. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask!-- ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇᴀʟᴇᴅᴡɪғᴇ (Contributions) (Squa) 17:31, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
- I agree that removing the bonus to hit puts this in a better spot. Solid feature with flavor. ~ BigShotFancyMan 17:47, 27 March 2019 (MDT)
