Talk:Changelings (3.5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
The Eberron Campaign setting already has a race that's called changelings, although that race does not have any connections to fey. I suggest that you find a different name for your race. At least you should state that you're doing something different here in the introduction. --Mkill 06:15, 16 July 2007 (MDT)
- Seeing how this race uses "minor change shape (su)" to change it's shape, which is exactly the same skill Eberron's Changelings - and only they - use (as opposed to the far more common "Change Self", "Alter Self" and "Disguise Self") I assume the creator of this race is aware of Eberron's Changelings. Still, yes, the name should probably be changed.
- To me it looks like... I'm honestly not sure what the creator was intending, but this looks like it's *very* close to the actual race. I actually mistook this for stats on the actual race for quite some time, and only noticed the "homebrew" at the bottom just now. While this is partly a systematic problem with the way D&D Wiki is set up (such that the only clear indicator of whether something is homebrew or cannon, besides judging the quality and setup, is scrolling way down to the bottom to see the location), this particular page is an EXTREME offender, having not only the same name as an official race, but also similar fluff and abilities. I would suggest putting a disclaimer at the top explaining this.
Actually: I just checked the official version, and large chunks of this- maybe all of it- are copied from it wholesale. The opening here is literally the exact first paragraph from the MM III, and the stats are *exactly* the same. Forget what I said about confusing it with the official- this page should probably just be moved and merged with the page on the canon race, or simply deleted (if there are copyright issues or somesuch).--173.245.52.116 19:40, 23 January 2012 (MST)
