Talk:Bracers of Insightful Defense (3.5e Equipment)
is it an insight bonus or a luck bonus? or is it both and you are realy getting double the bonus for one price?
Your getting both[edit]
Yes you get the luck and insight bonus. Compare how much it costs compared to bracers of armor. It costs alot more.

Trying to make sense of it...[edit]
Ahrg. At least make the wording clear. If I buy a +1 bracer, do I get a +1 bonus to AC that counts both as insight bonus and luck bonus or do I get a +2 item that has two +1 bonuses of different types? I assume the second, everything else would be completely useless.
Price comparison:
- Bracers of Insightful Defense (luck/insight bonus): Price: 7,500 gp (+1/+1), 30,000 gp (+2/+2), 67,000 gp (+3/+3), 120,000 gp (+4/+4), 187,500 gp (+5/+5)
- Bracers of Armor (armor bonus): Price 1,000 gp (+1), 4,000 gp (+2), 9,000 gp (+3), 16,000 gp (+4), 25,000 gp (+5), 36,000 gp (+6), 49,000 gp (+7), 64,000 gp (+8)
- Amulet of Natural Armor (natural armor bonus): Price 2,000 gp (+1), 8,000 gp (+2), 18,000 gp (+3), 32,000 gp (+4), or 50,000 gp (+5).
- Dusty rose ioun stone (insight, slotless): 5,000 gp (+1)
Okay, so let me get this straight: Bracers of armor are cheaper, and they only block one bonus type instead of two.
So, while you can wear the BoIDs with armor, they block off or collide with Ioun Stones, moment of prescience, defensive precognition, foresight, danger sense, demilich (insight bonus) and Staff of Power (luck bonus). Strangely enough, insight bonuses to AC are mainly for psionic powers and epic creatures, and there seems to be hardly anything that grants a luck bonus to AC.
So, if you need some AC bonus to go with your already fully enchanted armor, and you need the amulet slot for something else, this item might be the choice. For the cost of blocking to bonus types at once it is a little cheaper than the amulet of natural armor, but that's okay. It is actually better balanced than I first thought. --Mkill 08:52, 25 July 2007 (MDT)
