who made this page?

i like this change to the variant class,[edit]

I enjoy the difference of the classes, but I think that the learning ability should be much more pronounced than anything since that is supposed to be the original purpose of the class. Would you mind if I changed that, or if you wanted to change them yourself?

This is still in progress, so things are in flux while I find the right balance.
I do want to see how you would change it, as long as I know the rationale behind the change was made (tell me here on the talk page!), and be prepared for it to change again as I add things.
Some notes:
  • I haven't played any FF games (except VIII and X when they first came out, so that's a looong time ago, I can only remember Lulu's amazing dress) - so everything I know about blue mages has come from the various FF wikias.
  • You'll notice the biggest change is that I'm controlling what kind of powers the player has access to, and when they can get them. Instead of having a big list of caveats and adjustments to monster traits, the DM has to look through the the blue mage spell list and see what prerequisites are met. It's still awkward, but you get predictable results.
  • I think Blue Mage, Variant (5e Class) is a blend of different versions of the blue mage FF, customized to how Mefuki wants it. Now like I say, I haven't played a blue mage in any of the games, but from reading the wikias, some of the abilities seem to work quite differently. I'm trying to make the features closer to the intent of the game features.
  • To that end, you'll notice I've split the "dragoon" features to a class option. As I mention at Talk:Blue Mage, Variant (5e Class), I think in FF X Kimahri has lancet because he's a dragoon, not because he's a blue mage. Path of the Immortals takes inspiration from FF XI.
  • Full disclosure: I made this variant because I was commissioned to rewrite Blue Mage, Variant (5e Class) about two weeks ago. I haven't had any feedback from the commissioner since. Marasmusine (talk) 16:15, 28 July 2017 (MDT)

Affects everyone[edit]

So I noticed that if I wanted to learn from my party, nothing in the class seems to prevent me from learning every move in my entire party making me stronger than everyone in the game. I don't think that it should be bad that I should be able to be the strongest character, but I could do it in only a few days with this class it seems.

Actually I don't know what you're referring to. How do you "learn every move in my entire party"? You can only learn blue mage spells. Marasmusine (talk) 05:38, 14 April 2018 (MDT)

To Do[edit]

Add jobs from http://ffxiclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Blue_Mage/Job_Traits

If I'm reading it right, the best way to represent this will be to give each blue mage spell and learned spell a keyword. If you have prepared a spell with a certain keyword or you have a combination of keywords, you gain a trait. Marasmusine (talk) 09:58, 14 April 2018 (MDT)

So... is this page still managed by somebody? Cuz the idea behind it is pretty sick, tbh, yet the mechanic aren't really refined and some parts of the class are just unfinished (like the second subclass)--Zaaravi (talk) 16:16, 24 September 2019 (MDT)
