Talk:Blood Reaver (3.5e Prestige Class)
From D&D Wiki
in regards to the aura of pain ability and the blood cleave, they are a tad over powered in my opinion. one of my guys has asked to use this as they're prestige and i've allowed it with edits to those abilities. let me know what you think
as for the aura of pain. rather than dealing pain in that radius, it acts more on the fear effect with a bonus to the blood reaver, making it an a.o.e is where i think this ability becomes to nerfed. for my uses i've changed it to "any creature suffering penalties from fear or fear effects that are hit by the blood reaver must succeed a fort save ((math)) or take the 4d6 of extra damage plus his base output. it now becomes a targeted attack making it more, bearable for lack of a better word.
as for the blood cleave. that one is just to much, i understand going all out for the final ability, but it should still have some perimeters. I changed it for my game so that it worked more like the SRD:Power Word Kill spell upon hitting, they make the appropriate saves, upon failing. if they're total health at that point is below a certain number, then they die instantly
these are just my opinionated changes. curious on your take on them.
- So, some time later, I finally got around to noticing this page actually receives attention and for that Im glad. Also, thank you for your input. When I had made this, it was a few years ago... five or six now I think... and I was new to D&D and blah blah blah. Point is, now Ive learned a lot more, grown a lot, and taken your input and played with it. I took your idea of Aura of pain and made it so it only effected those afflicted by Frightful Presence. Whats more, for Blood Reave, I redesigned it a bit, making it after the spell SRD:Slay Living. Should be a bit more balanced now. --Bricius (talk) 16:17, 9 September 2015 (MDT)
