Talk:Blood Elf (Sin'dorei) (5e Subrace)

Anyone think of something special to add? Azernath (talk) 12:12, 18 March 2015 (MDT)
- I'm not sure if HP-for-spell slots is a good idea. For a start, the HP loss is meaningless if you're casting cure wounds on yourself (and this feature would let you heal back up to maximum without expending slots). 9 HP for a 9th level spell slot is a trivial expenditure.
- It might make more sense spending Hit Dice instead. Marasmusine (talk) 13:07, 18 March 2015 (MDT)
- Hmm, magic resistance is quite powerful. Could it be limited to certain kinds of spell? Marasmusine (talk) 13:15, 18 March 2015 (MDT)
The Hit Dice is a good idea, if we can make it fit then this subrace would be a great add on to any campaign.
We can say that the race have an advantage to saving throw against magical projectiles. Azernath (talk) 17:52, 18 March 2015 (MDT)
- A few thoughts I've had on this subrace:
- Blood Sacrifice - You can harness the magic woven through your blood to supplement your spells. As a Bonus Action on your turn, you can expend 1 HD to regain a single expended spell slot of a level equal to your character level divided by 3 (rounded down). This slot must be of a level you can cast and cannot be of 7th level or higher.
- You can use this ability once per long rest.
- Essence Drain (level requirement?) - You can manipulate another creatures blood to replenish your own. You gain the ability to cast the Vampric Touch spell once per day. Charisma is your spell casting ability for this spell.
- Bloods Resilience - You can channel the inherent magic of your blood to protect you against hostile magic. As a reaction, you can expend 1 HD to gain Advantage on all saving throws against spells and other magical effects until the end of your next turn.
- You can use this ability once per long rest.
