Talk:Blood Elf (Sand Elf, Low Elf) (5e Subrace)
From D&D Wiki
This is the same as the wood elf subtrait, except with +1 Con, +10 speed, and two extra features. It is obviously overpowered. I am taking some toys away to balance it. Marasmusine (talk) 15:50, 7 December 2015 (MST)
To avoid too much crossover with the wood elf, let's say you can have fleet of foot or mask of the wild. I've picked the former. Marasmusine (talk) 15:51, 7 December 2015 (MST)
The beast bond cantrip makes a suitable replacement for the fairly overpowered blood companion trait. If you want a proper animal companion then pick a few levels of Ranger. I also gave them speak with animals to replace "Voice of the Land." Marasmusine (talk) 16:00, 7 December 2015 (MST)
I really like the idea for this elf race, but the "Voice of the Land" power doesn't really make sense to me since such a cantrip would reflect an affinity for kinship with nature and animals... and the desert doesn't really strike me as a place where that would develop as a racial power. So, instead, I changed the nature powers out for a couple spells that are more suited for extreme survival, or at least better odds for survival in general. Bless, and Resistance. Since Drow get a 2nd level spell at the 5th level (darkness) and they are roughly equivalent (their extreme nightvision has a drawback), it also seems reasonable to put in another spell for them. I chose "warding bond" since it seems to go with the close-knit society aspect that they have, and I threw in a flavor addition for fun. --Crashguy2 (talk) 22:45, 6 April 2016 (MDT)
