Talk:Blood Cursed Ring of Strength (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
I propose adding "needsbalance" and "wording" maintenance templates to this item for the following reasons:
- This item can kill a low-level PC without them attuning to it, for example by merely testing the properties like described in the DMG, p. 136 " Identifying a Magic Item". For example, a wizard or sorcerer of the 5th level is more likely to die than to survive the initial hit point loss.
- On higher levels, the magic item only confers a minor disadvantage but grants a strength score exceeding the limit of what is to be the apex of possible strength, a limit set for deity, demon princes , etc. Compare PHB, p. 173.
- what exactly does entail repeating the curse? Do you roll the damage to increase your strength again? Considering even a strength score of 8 is guaranteed to be increased to 34, the reasons for doing so seem unclear. Does the ring transform into a gauntlet when you reach a strength of 34 the first time the curse activates too?
