Talk:Bastard Sword (5e Equipment)

I changed the versatile damage from the greatsword 2d6 (average of 7) to the 1d12 (average of 6), so that it doesn't over shine the greatsword and keep them both as a valid option, plus, if it is one step closer to a greatsword, then it should be hard for small creatures to wield it. It's an average of 60.5 ½, which is the same as the greataxe and other two-handed melee weapons.
Even with the nerf, 1d10 is still fundamentally more powerful than any nonmagical single-handed melee weapon in the SRD with no real drawback unless you aren't Medium. - Guy 14:55, 20 August 2018 (MDT)
