Wrong Title?[edit]
Oops. You want Ball & Chain, not MyWeapon as the title, right?
On another note, 18-20/x3, even at penalty, is really dangerous. There's tons of power attack builds and giving them expanded threat will only compound it. Actually, due to a ball and chain being somewhat difficult to control but striking with immense force, I'd say using your special Power Attack makes it x4/20 instead of x3/20. Makes more sense, and a lot less abusive, though quite powerful in its own right. -- Eiji 23:31, 26 April 2008 (MDT)
- Yes Please, I'm still not used to the whole wiki thing yet.
- I like the idea to make it x4, but i also like the expanded threat range, maybe just lessen it to 19-20?Summerscythe 23:34, 26 April 2008 (MDT)
- As I went to bed I started to see your point. with the increase to x4 the minimum damage that could be dealt is 48 on a critical... darn deadly i must say, and with a maximun of at least 104, you dont want that to happen very often, so yes, it will be changedSummerscythe 11:27, 27 April 2008 (MDT)
- As I'm looking at this, I'm beginning to wonder if it would be to much to add an additional die for each attack you give up. Say a Fighter has a BAB of 13 and takes the full-round action to build up the attack. Since he's forgoing what would normally be three attacks for one instead, is it feasible that he add 2D8 to the damage instead of 1D8?--Zaramuth 02:25, 13 May 2009 (MDT)
- Nah, you can only build up to a certain ammount of momentum. Try it IRL some time, it´s fun :).
- Something else, isn´t this basically, if not in execution, a mother-and-son-hammer? The thing used in Kill Bill, for example, is one of those. So, perhaps the two could be merged into a single weapon, with one linking to the other because not everyone knows the proper name (I hardly blame them, I only got it from Arms & Armor, and the name doesn't make much sense (hammer??))? Just a thought. Deranged 06:05, 2 August 2009 (MDT)
- I really like your take on this weapon. I have similar stats in my 'home rules', but I include a 1d6 spear tip on the other end of the rope. 2-weapon fighting possibilities, etc. But I like the 20/x4 crit idea. I'm changing mine to that. Pyper
Martial?[edit]
Given that the spiked chain is an exotic weapon and this behaves somewhat similarly, this weapon might be better categorized as an exotic weapon.--TyrJotunbjorn (talk) 16:31, 7 December 2013 (MST)
