Talk:Astute Mind (5e Feat)

That is true, but you can only take the resilient feat once to my knowledge. While this feat allows you to choose on the go which saving throw you want to have buffed. Allowing for it to have more versatility at the cost of your reaction and limited uses. I included the ability requirement along with the ability score increase to make it obvious that you need at least 14 in intelligence or wisdom to actually gain a benefit from this talent.

Oh, I see! I love this thematically actually. It reminds me of a feat I've been wanting to make. Thoughts on this possible rework?
Prerequisite: Intelligence or Wisdom 13 or higher
Your mind is lightning quick, allowing you to predict or intuit your enemies' movements and to get an occasional stroke of genius or inspiration that can turn the tides. You gain the following benefits:
  • You can use Intelligence or Wisdom, instead of Dexterity, when determining your Initiative and Armor Class.
  • Whenever you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can choose to add your Intelligence or Wisdom modifier to the roll. You can do this before or after you roll the die, but before the results are determined. Once you do this, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

My problem with that is it loses its flexibility to be used in the other two ability saves (Constitution and Strength). Mainly I created it to cover the holes that more metal classes have for ability saves. Don't get me wrong it, your's is great. I think that would work just fine. To be honest ours seem to be different enough that they could coexist with each other with only a little overlap. I will have to think a bit further on how to change it (been a busy week at work). I'd be happy to hear any ideas you would be will to share :)

Fair enough. Sounds like a plan. --Carcabob (talk) 20:45, 2 September 2017 (MDT)
Why is the balance template still on this? It seems like there is a personal issue and not a balance issue with this feat. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 12:49, 17 September 2017 (MDT)
I think after our discussion here, I assumed he would edit and remove it. I still don't like that it has a number of uses equal to half the ability modifier, rounded down though. I feel the wording's a little clumsy. Maybe once per short or long rest? Other than that, it's probably fine.--Carcabob (talk) 15:04, 17 September 2017 (MDT)
I agree with you. I'll make the appropriate changes and remove the tag..... Someone will let me know if it is wrong. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 17:30, 18 September 2017 (MDT)
